The Flakes play what they know, and play with the heart and conviction that could only have been bred through years of dive bars and blown PA's. The Bay Area is no stranger to budget rock, being for the past fifteen years home to countless bands in a tight knit community. Where the Mummies left off, The Flakes picked it up... After a handful of 45's, hundreds of high energy performances and a European tour, The Flakes have finally settled down just long enough to record fourteen manic rock and roll tracks for the debut full length on Dollar Record Records. To celebrate we are offering something of a little special on CD's. See what has made the Bay Area such a hotbed for kick-ass-raw-energy rock-n-roll!
EUROPE AND ASIA CD SPECIAL Like wine and cheese, The Flakes go well with Nagg and S.L.A. The three bands have the history and the scars to prove it. After ten or fifteen years of all knowing each other and being friends, the cream of the crop rises to the top in this trilogy of friends. All the bars, late nights, and shitty clubs couldn’t stop these three bands from kicking ass on their debut albums! You say, but The S.L.A. is from Sacramento, how can they be friends? Damn! Them boys play in San Francisco all the time! And hell, Rob even lives here! Double Damn!! These three bands are the reason Dollar Record Records was founded! And Triple Damn!!! Greg, Peepin’, and Dylan all livin’ together in the same SF flat during those crazy 90’s?! Oh gawd, what the hell could that have been like?!? Them three fighting the forces that almost destroyed this city in a foggy haze of back room deals! ...and where does Nagg fit into this? Well hell, JT and Greg from The Flakes also play in Nagg!
